Martini Glass DIY Gift Idea

Sometimes you just need a unique idea for a gift. Maybe it’s for someone you don’t know too well. Maybe it’s for someone who has everything. Regardless, this martini glass DIY gift idea is easy to make, can be customized, and makes a good visual impact.

What you’ll need: martini glass, candy in complimentary color, matching crinkle paper, cellophane, ribbon.

Materials for your Martini Glass DIY Gift Idea

Martini Glass: This you can get where ever you find fun glassware. I usually find some great options at Pier 1 Imports, Crate & Barrel, and Home Goods. This makes a great gift for one person, or you can pick up two if it’s for a couple. It also looks best if you have a glass with some kind of color on it. For the example in this post, it’s white and gold dots on the martini glass.

Candy: You can get any candy to go in your gift. I match the wrapper of the candy to the colors on the martini glass. For this example, I got Hershey’s Nuggets and Lindor Butter Pecan spheres. Varying the shapes helps to add visual interest as well.

Crinkle Paper: You don’t need too much of this. One package will be plenty. I used white because there are white dots on my martini glass, but get a color that works for the glass you picked out. I got my crinkle paper at the dollar store.

Cellophane: I used a size small cellophane bag from Michael’s Craft store. This was super easy, as I didn’t have to manage the giant cellophane roll.

How to Put it Together

Step 1: Put the martini glass in the bag. When I build this gift, I usually start by putting the martini glass in the cellophane bag. This way you can fill in the candy and crinkle paper easily.

Step 2: Fill the bottom with crinkle paper. You can judge how much you need. You don’t want to over fill it, but you also don’t want to make it look like you accidentally put paper in their either. Find your balance.

Step 3: Put the candy in the glass and at the bottom. This adds color throughout and fills in your glass. I usually put enough to completely fill the glass and a few sprinkled throughout the bottom.

Step 4: Tip the top with ribbon. You may need to tape down the sides if there is excess cellophane. But with the small sized bag, it worked perfectly fine without tape.

The martini glass gift is a great one for coworkers. I’ve done it before. It’s quick and doesn’t take a lot of purchasing, as you can buy candy in bulk. And you can get different designs for your martini glasses. It’s that simple!
