Starting with the Mood Board

I love making mood boards. I think because I did Interior Design and Architecture in college. But, I try to make a whole mood board for my parties. It’s not just a combination of products, but an actual mood or vibe for the party. I have the one I made below. Feel free to download the PDF if you want to use it to inspire your own!

Let’s Start with Pastel Halloween Party Decor

I feel like all Girl’s Night parties have to have cute decor, pillows, and something glittery. These things below cover all those bases. You don’t necessarily need all of this, it just depends on if you’re doing a casual party or more formal at the dining table type party. But, check out my favorites for a Pastel Halloween Party theme:

(1) Pastel Halloween Balloon Kit

This kit has all that you need to make a fun balloon arch or garland. It has the balloons, of course, but also tape, paper bats, and the cute spider and star balloons too! Overall, it’s 166 pieces! Can’t beat that in terms of all-inclusive.

Pick up your Pastel Halloween Balloon kit here.

You could also use this as a great spot to make a photo area for selfies and such. I have some really fun pastel Halloween photo props in the EventOTB Etsy shop here. They’re printable right away. Print them on cardstock, cut out and use as photo props. Or, print them, cut them out and use them as party decor on your balloons, walls, table displays!

Get your Pastel Halloween Photo Props here.

(2) Cute Ghost Invitations

I thought these were so fun. They fit the cutesy vibe of this party theme and it’s so fun to get actual mail in the mail and not just junk. So, since we’re going retro with the slumber party idea, let’s go retro with the paper invitations!

(3) Pastel Paper Bats

I love these paper bats. I think it’s a super easy and affordable way to make a big impact on your party decor. They have an all black version, but this pastel set is great for our theme and party mood. Simply stick them up on the wall, your door or around your house. They’re perfect!

(4) Pink Pumpkins

I love the unique pumpkin colors. These pink ones are perfect for our pastel Halloween theme and are definitely sturdy enough to be used year after year. I love the varying sizes. It’s great for a table centerpiece or just decor around the house, but small to large keeps it interesting visually.

(5) Ripped Cloth Colorful Backdrops

This set is great for hanging all around your house. This one set comes with (6) different cloths, so you can literally decorate all over with this one set! They’re called “creepy cloths”, but they aren’t all that creepy! It’s just the vibe of ripped cloth backdrops.

Grab your Creepy Cloth Set of 6 here.

(6) Glitzy Fringe Decor

I love adding some sparkly to this very matte pastel party decor we have going on. The glittery fringe adds to the girl’s night slumber party theme and also is within the color range that we’ve selected for this party. It’s a fun addition to the other decor.

(7) Cute Pastel Halloween Pillow Covers

This is totally extra, but for a slumber party, I love having these cute pillows on the couch. Keep in mind these are just covers, so you will need actual 18×18 pillow inserts to go in them. But, these add such a fun, homey aspect to the party!

Pastel Halloween Party Food & Drink Ideas

Party food for girl’s night should be pretty simple, like girl dinner! You can do it potluck style, where you ask people to bring one thing and you end up with a fun smorgasbord of food. Or you can set the menu yourself, but I would keep it to finger foods, apps and desserts. Here are some ideas:

  • Charcuterie – think fun cheese and meats, maybe throw in a few Halloween treats for the theme. Or pumpkin shaped charcuterie too!
  • Candy Bar – Get all kinds of candy and create a little candy bar for people to choose their favorites from.
  • Lunchable Plates – You can do little lunchable style plates. Like create your own pizza! Get some Naan bread (it’s a circle like a pumpkin) and give them some pizza sauce and toppings. Points for creating a jack-o-lantern out of toppings.
  • Cupcakes or Cookies – This is a great way to add the pastel color to your food. You can do a pastel icing or sprinkles. You can get some fun cupcake toppers too.
  • Dipped Marshmallow Ghosts – These little guys are so cute and pretty easy to make. I have a whole DIY linked here for you.

For drinks, you can go non-alcoholic or with cocktails. Here are a few ideas:

  • Party Punch – Find a fun punch recipe or sangria. If you need an idea, you can see a Pumpkin Pie Punch recipe in this roundup of fun Halloween Cocktails.
  • Mimosas – Candy Corn mimosas are totally Halloween themed. I have a tutorial in this blog post that you can follow to make your own.
  • Soda Floats – If you want to keep a non-alcoholic vibe, soda floats are super fun. Orange soda and vanilla ice cream is perfect! Don’t forget whipped cream.
  • Mocktails – Create your favorite cocktail and just leave out the liquor. Don’t forget all the fun garnish.

Pastel Halloween Girl’s Night Activities

There are a bunch of activity ideas for this party. I’ll try to be brief! But, pick your favorite or favorites and go from there!

(1) Pastel Goth Coloring Book

This book gives off Halloween vibes just based on the Goth theme. It’s one of those fun, but not too hard coloring books with pictures you could copy and share with the group! Don’t forget your coloring items. You could go with an old school Crayola crayon, or markers! These markers I used for rendering in Architecture school are amazing to blend and so easy to color with.

Grab your Goth Pastel Coloring book here.

(2) & (3) White Pumpkins and Paint Set

I think painting pumpkins is so fun. These pumpkins are decor, so they’re plastic. But they’re white, which is a great canvas for the fun pastel colored paints. Everyone gets to show their personality and you get to have a fun pumpkin activity without the huge mess of carving and pumpkin guts. Plus, they never rot!

(4), (5) and (6) Self Care Items

These fun self care items are great for a slumber party. And since we’re combining slumber party vibes with a Halloween party, these are perfect. You could get the eye patches, face mask and face mask brushes as a party favor and let your friends take one home each. Or, just get brushes for everyone and enough face mask to cover the group. Either way, fun pastel Halloween party activity!

Wrap Up

There’s so much flexibility in a theme that incorporates Halloween and Slumber Parties. Whether your guests spend the night or not, you can still capture the sleepover vibes. Think self care, fun games, and great snacks. Keep within the theme by sticking to cute Halloween things and pastel colors.
