How to Make Your Comfort Food Platter
These are not new recipes. I’m pretty sure everyone knows how to make a grilled cheese and a PB&J. But, I can offer some suggestions for the prep and making of this comfort food party platter! If you’d rather see a video, check out the TikTok I made below. Otherwise, keep on reading.
Step 1: Prep the Bread
First thing I did was prep all the bread. For the grilled cheese, I bought pre-sliced bread, so no need to cut a baguette. These were the perfect size for bite size sandwiches. So, for the prep on these, simply butter them and then place a piece of shaved parmesan, or a pinch of shredded parm on each slice.
For the PB&J sandwiches, I did them two ways. I toasted some bread on the stove and left some soft because King’s Hawaiian Rolls are so good soft too! To prep them, I did slice them. So I cut each roll into about four slices. They end up looking like tiny slices of bread, which is so fun!
Step 2: On the Stove
I put all the grilled cheese bread slices on the pan on medium heat. While those are heating up and toasting, I started putting my peanut butter and jelly on the Hawaiian rolls. Keep an eye on those grilled cheese bread slices. A couple min after they’ve been heating up, I add the cheese onto half of the slices. That way it can start to melt. As they cook, top the sandwiches with the other slices and flip as needed until a melty cheese, golden brown sandwiches are made! All the while, keep peanut butter and jellying your Hawaiian Rolls.
Step 3: Plating your Comfort Food Party Platter
I used this party platter. It’s super versatile and a great shape for this kind of platter. I plated the sandwiches on either end. I stood them up on their sides, for pretty presentation. On either side of the sandwiches in the little side trays, I put some of my favorite snacks to eat with sandwiches: pretzels, Doritos and Cheetos.
In the middle, I placed the desserts. I bought brownie bites and cookies from the bakery section at the grocery store. You could totally bake your brownies and cookies if that’s your thing, but I’m terrible at baking! So, I bought mine! No shame! This blog is all about creative and easy party planning, so do what works best for you. 🙂
Wrap Up
That’s it! It’s that simple. This comfort food party platter is a crowd favorite and can work for so many of your party themes. You could also recreate this with any kind of sandwich you like, maybe a club, or turkey sandwich, burger slider. Almost anything will work with this setup.
