‘Tis the season for red white and blue! I’ve always heard about Christmas in July, but never acted on it beyond watching Christmas movies. This year, I decided to go full force into Independence Day with a red, white and blue tree! It was actually super quick and easy to put together. Here’s how you can recreate it at home….
What You’ll Need: white Christmas tree, white lights, red and blue glitter stars, red white and blue garland, foil star tree topper, blue and red paper stars, patriotic scarf
Where to Get Your Red, White, and Blue Materials
The Christmas Tree – I got my white tree at Walmart. They do have a few online on Amazon as well.
White Christmas Lights – A lot of trees come pre-lit nowadays, but if yours doesn’t, you can pickup white Christmas lights in a few different places: Walmart, Big Lots, Amazon, etc.
Red, White and Blue stars, paper stars, garland and tree topping star, patriotic scarf – I got all of these materials at The Dollar Tree. So, check your local dollar store.
Putting Together Your Tree
Start by putting up your white tree and fluffing the branches. (This is my least favorite part. Lol). Find the right angle, because some trees will have one side better than the other. So, find your tree’s Mariah Carey good side and face that forward!
Next, you want to add your lights, if the tree isn’t already pre-lit. Sticking with the basics, you want to add your garland next. I used three garland strands that I purchased at The Dollar Tree. I only covered the front of the tree, since mine was backed into a corner. So make sure you think about how much you’ll need for your tree, depending on where your tree is located.
Now, you need to add your red white and blue stars! Honestly, to connect these to the tree, I didn’t use anything. It was so easy. I simply placed the glitter and paper stars throughout the tree and just sat them in the branches. They stayed there, no problem!
Finally, you need to add your tree topper to the top and your patriotic scarf will act as a tree skirt! Again, I just placed the foil star up top, with no attachments. It laid there in place. The scarf, I wrapped around the bottom of the tree to cover the legs.
That’s it! It’s that simple to put together your Independence day tree! And, all together it cost about $10. (I did already have the tree though). But, this is a great way to enjoy some holiday decor in the middle of summer. And, now that you have a Christmas tree up, you can go back to watching your xmas movies for Christmas in July.
