It’s the most wonderful time of the year…..for popcorn!! I love Christmas movies, as many of us do. My mom at this point has probably watched one hundred Hallmark Christmas Movies, and it’s not even December yet. They are her favorite thing this time of year. I usually go a little more traditional with my Christmas movies, like Christmas Vacation and It’s a Wonderful Life. There are plenty to choose from and lots of classics! With the help of my popcorn connoisseur friend, Maggie, I put together a Christmas movie popcorn pairing. Say that one five times fast! Check out the popcorn recipes we came up with below.

The Santa Clause: Cookies and Milk Popcorn Recipe
What you’ll need: Popcorn, White Chocolate Melts, Oreos, Glass of Milk
For The Santa Clause, I went with a classic: cookies and milk! The movie is about Santa Clause, after all, and he eats cookies. First, pop your popcorn. Duh. While that is cooling down a bit, put some Oreo’s in a Ziploc bag. Use the back of a spoon to crush them up! Then melt your white chocolate. (I used white chocolate that was specifically made for melting. That way, I could throw it right in the microwave). Drizzle your white chocolate over your popcorn. Then before it hardens, add your cookie crumbles across the top. Now you can pour yourself a great big glass of milk, or almond milk and feast while watching The Santa Clause.
Elf: Buddy the Elf’s Famous Breakfast Popcorn Recipe
What you’ll need: Popcorn, Chocolate Syrup, M&Ms, Twizzler Peels, Sprinkles
Everyone remembers that ridiculous breakfast that Buddy the Elf made in the modern classic, Elf. He had a smorgasbord of food like spaghetti and maple syrup. Well, I’m not that crazy to have you put spaghetti and maple syrup in popcorn. But, I did come up with substitutions. Use the Twizzler pull a parts as your “spaghetti” and chocolate sauce as your “maple syrup”. Add in the M&Ms and some sprinkles and you’ll have your Buddy the Elf Breakfast Popcorn! You could serve it with Buddy’s favorite, a two liter of Coke!
White Christmas: Snowy Popcorn Recipe
What you’ll need: Popcorn, White Chocolate Melts, White Sprinkles
White Christmas is a classic holiday movie. It has a touching story and really focuses on surrounding yourself with great people…..and snow! For this movie and popcorn pairing, I made a sparkly snow popcorn! Start by popping up your popcorn. Melt your white chocolate and drizzle across your popcorn. Before it hardens, get your sprinkles on there! Now put on that Christmas classic and eat some snow sprinkled popcorn! If you want a drink to pair it with, try this recipe on Pinterest. (Or this one for an adult drink).
Home Alone: Cheese Pizza Popcorn Recipe
What you’ll need: Popcorn, Parmesan Cheese, Basil, Oregano, Butter
Merry Christmas you filthy animal! Ok, ok, enough with the 90’s insults. For Home Alone themed popcorn, I made a cheese pizza flavor. We all remember in the beginning, Kevin is talking about cheese pizza. As a side note, he also eats cheese pizza in Home Alone 2. (Look at the efficiency there! Do I smell double feature?) Pop that popcorn! Next, you need to melt your butter. Add Parmesan cheese, oregano, and basil to your melted butter. I used dried herbs, just for ease and also I used the shaker Parmesan from the grocery aisle, not shredded. This way it mixes and dissolves better. Pour your mixture over your popcorn, mix and serve with a Pepsi!
How the Grinch Stole Christmas: Green Grinch Popcorn Recipe
What you’ll need: Popcorn, Marshmallows, Red Cinnamon Candies, Butter, Green food dye (optional), Chocolate Coal (optional)
We all know the story of The Grinch and how his heart was three sizes too small. But eventually that little heart did grow! This popcorn recipe is basically like a Rice Krispie treat. Pop up your popcorn. While it cools a little bit, start melting your butter in a big pan. Once it’s melted, add your marshmallows and stir, stir, stir! I used green marshmallows, which made it really easy. If you can’t find green marshmallows, you can always use regular marshmallows and some food coloring. When your marshmallows are smooth and melted, add in your popcorn and coat. Finally, pull your popcorn out and shape it into a heart. For a video example, see this Instagram post. Sprinkle with cinnamon candies. Now you’re ready for your Who-liday!
TIP: when you’re forming your popcorn heart, it’s best to use gloves to keep the stickiness off your hands.
Don’t have gloves? Use plastic Ziploc baggies! It works!
What do you think of the popcorn recipes? One of my favorite Christmas movies is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Anyone have a suggestion for popcorn recipes to theme with that movie?
